Life is too short to be living up to false expectations set by an imperfect society. Be the unique, imperfect person that God made you to be, and be content with that. Be a man, not Superman. Men are bombarded with false senses of masculinity. It is negatively affecting our men and women. Men think that is what they have to live up to. Then women think if you are not like that which they see on TV, you are not a man. TV is not real. That love scene that took 3 minutes in the movie. It took 2 days, 15 cameras, and hours of film edited to perfection. Then you think you can go into the bedroom and jump off the dresser. The real goal should be to be genuine. Genuine in character, values, and belief. That is what we are lacking.
Love your complete self, strengths and weaknesses. Don’t hide behind your strengths and bury your weaknesses. No, develop your strengths and weaknesses. People are all bullies. When they see that you are ashamed of your weaknesses they will parade them around and tell the world. The way to combat that is to be comfortable within your own skin. Accept yourself as being imperfect, and be happy with that.
Don’t try to be superman to your children. Show them that daddy makes mistakes too. This let’s them know that it is okay for them to be human as well. More than likely they will fail in life more than they succeed. So, prepare them for it. Teach them to strive for excellence not perfection. Hey, this is just an idea…
