You have to set yourself up for success because no one else will. Here a few ideas, that you ease the tension of getting fired.
1. Restrain from anger. Don’t scream at your boss (he will be your first reference). Don’t threaten to sue the company. If you have grounds for a lawsuit, just talk to your lawyer, not anyone in the company. Don’t tell them what you are going to do in this situation. Just do it.
2. Apply for unemployment compensation immediately. It is nothing to be ashamed of, and the money will buy time to plan your next move.
3. Find out precisely why you were fired. It may help to reevaluate your personal approach to the job hunt and beyond.
4. Don’t withdraw out of self-pity. Share your feeling with your family and friends. They can sustain you in these difficult times.
5. Reassess your career goals. It may be time foe a modification or and outright switch.
6. Use all of this extra time recharging yourself. Eat right, Sleep right, Exercise, Spend time with your kids, date your spouse, and remember why you are working in the first place. Stay positive & alert for every opportunity.
7. Don’t waste time on Facebook & MySpace all day!
